“Kindly explain once more, Reno.” Tseng sighed and sipped his coffee. The watch on the wall said four in the morning.

Sullen, Reno held a piece of paper against his split lip.

“They beat the crap out of us, a’right? What’s to explain? We didn’t get those weirdoes you sent us after.”

“You could have told us they were First Class Soldier trained,” Rude added testily, trying not to move his broken arm too much. “We’d have brought more explosives.”

“I had no idea they had such skills, or I wouldn’t have sent you after them alone.” Tseng’s phone rang and he picked it up. “Head of Investigations, this is Tseng…”

“Well, I did get one of them, at least.” Reno said defensively to his partner. “Hit him good with an EMR shot. He should be out for a few hours, at least.”

“*What*, Mr Heidegger? You lost him? In the ShinRa building?” Tseng’s eyes grew wide as he listened to the agitated voice on the phone.

“I don’t know.” Rude shook his head. “They were really tough. I think I saw him stumble away.”

“Do you have a description?” Tseng got out a paper and started to take notes. “Long, lean, pale, silver…just a moment, sir.” Tseng put his hand over the phone and glared at Reno. “Care to explain how your ‘victim’ managed to get himself back here and inside ShinRa?”

“What?!” Rude spat.

“And before *you* two did, I might add.”

“Maybe he didn’t stop for beer and wutai-food on the way?” Reno could see the joke was dead even before he finished it.

“A tall silver haired man of unknown origin or goal is loose somewhere within ShinRa premises! You will find him, now! Use all Turks available, and look everywhere, including the labs, the training facilities, the private apartments and under the president’s desk!” Tseng took a deep breath. “Under no circumstances tell anyone who or what you are looking for – we don’t need panic. I don’t care who you piss off, direct them to me. Just find him!”

“Yes, sir!” Reno and Rude ran out of the office.



“Who is that?” Cloud eyed the unconscious man, wide-eyed but suspiciously.

“I don’t know.” Zack hitched the lean body up in his arms. “He looks a bit like Sephiroth. Too bad the General is away in Wutai.”

“But what’s wrong with him?” The pale body was shaking and even unconscious it tried to press against Zack’s naked chest.

“Mako withdrawal, I think. Looks like he got it bad. Probably why he found us, after those shots yesterday we must be reeking of the stuff.” *If Mako was the only thing in those shots...which I doubt.* Zack thought to himself as he stepped in and closed the door. “Maybe he’s a rookie.”

“Rookies shouldn’t be in the First Class Sector.” Cloud wasn’t at all feeling happy when Zack put the slim, gorgeous body down in the bed and crawled up next to it.

“Oh, look who’s talking!” Zack grinned. “Maybe he too is a bed warmer for some elite Soldier.”

“I am not a bed warmer!” Sulking, Cloud climbed into bed on the other side of the pale figure.

“I know, love, I’m just teasing you.” Zack leaned over and kissed him and Cloud felt some of his resentment melt away. He knew Zack loved him, but it still annoyed him the way the other sometimes seemed to take him for granted.

Suddenly the body between them moved, and green mako-eyes opened. The stranger smiled, seemingly not at all troubled to wake up naked between two unknown Soldiers.

“I knew I’d find you!” He put surprisingly strong arms around Zack’s neck, pulling him closer and snuggling up against his chest. “Mmmm…I feel better already.”

“What?” Zack grabbed his arms, pulling him back. “Um…do I know you?”

The pale stranger sniggered even as Cloud’s face turned dangerously red with jealousy.

“Oh, don’t be stupid, brother.” He turned to Cloud and smiled. “Tell him to stop fooling around, little brother.”

Cloud’s jaw dropped and his fury died away.

“What, me telling him?” he squawked. That wasn’t how things where usually done.

“Mmm.” Now the stranger was nuzzling up against Cloud’s chest, even though Zack still held his wrists. “Big brother is being stupid, and I’m too tired to explain. That damn Turk hit me, and I…I seem to have forgotten so much. But now I’m with you again, it will all come back.” He sighed pleasantly. “You smell so *good*, I can smell Mother on you...”

“Turks, hm?” Zack exchanged a look with Cloud, who didn’t seem to know what he’d do with this pliant person who was taking nonsense. There were no love lost between Turks and Soldiers.

“He’s got a bad bump on temple.” Cloud was slightly disturbed by the way the stranger purred and petted the silver head against his hands as he tried to investigate. “Maybe…we should keep him here, just for now.”

The stranger cuddled up to him and promptly feel asleep, apparently exhausted.

“Until he gets better.” Zack agreed and grinned. “And until it makes those pesky Turks look really bad.”
